From The Grand Knight

November 2007

Brother Knights,

Congratulations to the twelve new brother Sir Knights, Dan Baird, Bob Blade, Norm Carter, John Castelvecchi, Tim Cook, Frank Gerloff, Ray Kirby, Kevin Kowar, Mike Kremer, Alex Kulinowski, Jack Lewis, and Joe McFadden. These Sir Knights have stepped up and pledged themselves to serve God and Country in the 4th Degree of our Order in the Knights of Columbus. Well Done!! Special Thank You goes out to Tim Cook who led the way and recruited fellow Brother Knights to make their journey into the 4th Degree.

The Sir Knights mentioned above have made a special commitment to what they feel is important to them, Their God, Lord Jesus, and Our Country the United States of America. We too as Knights should reflect on what is important to us. Is it that new car in the garage, or that set of golf clubs that you're so proud of? Maybe just maybe it is knowing that you have a Job, that you are able to provide for your family, that you have food on the table and a home to live in. When you get ready to sit down for the big Turkey Feast this Thanksgiving, please remember our fellow countrymen serving in the armed forces fighting to protect our freedoms, the many families that have been uprooted because of natural destructions due to fires, floods, and earthquakes, families dealing with sickness or the loss of a loved one.

I am not trying to bring you down, but rather to reflect on that Thansgiving is not about eating until you bust and then pass out watching the football games all day. It is a time to gather with close friends and family and to look back on the year to see what gifts that the Lord gave to you and appreciate what you have and not what you think you should have. Take some time this Thanksgiving to sit down with your family and discuss your blessings and concerns. Try to make a game plan as to how you and your family could extend a healing hand to others in our community to make their future birghter. May the Light of the Lord Shine on all of you and may your Thanksgiving Day be a blessed one that lasts the whole year long.
