The KOVAR Collection Schedule is now online! Please click here and take a look, and then contact Rick Gillespie (outat1st@comcast.net) to get your name added to the list! Thanks for your support! From The Grand Knight April 2007 Brothers, Recently, Pope Benedict XVI said this to a delegation of European bishops who met with him at the Vatican: “There are so many problems one could list that must be solved, but none of them can be solved unless God is put at the center, if God does not become once again visible to the world, if He does not become the determining factor in our lives and also enters the world in a decisive way through us” “In this, I believe that the future of the world in this dramatic situation is decided today: whether God - the God of Jesus Christ - exists and is recognized as such, or whether He disappears.” I can not think of a better example of God entering the world through us, than our works of charity. Please take a moment to consider how we as a council make God visible to the world in our works of charity:
I want to personally thank all those who either contacted me, or attended the Council Planning Session, held March 25th, to provide their input into how we can become an even better council. I will present my summary of the input as well as ideas proposed at the April director’s meeting, and publish it in the May newsletter. This is the busiest time of year for our council so check out what’s going on in this newsletter and get involved! We’ve even got the KOVAR volunteer slots on our website: www.kofc11042.org/Kovar_Signup.htm Just a reminder that the council’s 2007-2008 budget will be discussed at the April director’s meeting. If you have any areas which may require funding, or are interested in how the officers and trustees allocate our council’s resources, please join us at the Verdi Lodge on Monday April 16th at 7:00 pm I am continually humbled to serve such a great council. Vivat Jesus!
Joe McFadden,
March was a busy month. I want to send out a big Thank You to Andy and Cindy Jennings for letting us work the door at Rare Old Times Pub on St. Patrick’s Day. We raised a good amount of money to be donated to SCAN. Thanks to Bryan Mueller for running that function along with all of you who worked the door that day. We also ran a for fun bingo game at the Hanvoer Health Care for their folks. Thank You, Tom Deaner and your crew for running that for us. Dennis McLaughlin put together a crew for GIFT. Tim Cook, Erick Teager, and their wives along with CDA chaired the Easter Egg Hunt at church. Thanks once again to all who came out and Volunteered their time. Our next and biggest charity event of the year is KOVAR - Knights of Virginia Assisting the Retarded. Please look over the sign up sheet in the newletter or at this link, and let Rick Gillespie know when you can work a shift or two. Remember you don’t have to be a Knight to help out. Anyone can work a shift so ask your family to join in and help out. You can email Rick at outat1st@comcast.net
